Covers entrants working in a high risk confined space environment , carrying out safety checks , use of equipment and following all procedures including dealing with emergencies.
Description
Course Aims and Objectives:
The aim of this unit is to follow the national occupational standard required for works associated within a high risk confined space environment.
The qualification is applicable for both water and non-water and may include tasks working in tunnelling, drainage and sewer systems and areas where there may be the need for breathing apparatus to be worn, or where a confined space is subject to any of the specified risks.
Course Content:
- Carry out all required safety checks, including identifying safe working limits.
- Prepare to work in a safe manner in a high risk confined space environment
- Enter and exit the high risk confined space following all necessary procedures
- Using associated tools and equipment including breathing apparatus in a safe manner
- Following all required working procedures to work safely
- Understanding how to deal with emergencies
- Understanding high risk confined space workings and all associated principles and regulations

- Please provide all the necessary information which is required for City & Guilds & CITB if applicable
- Personal protective equipment (applicable for confined space courses) such as hard hat, protective gloves, overalls, Hi Vis and safety footwear are required, together with suitable clothing for climbing through confined spaces during the practical exercises, please ensure you bring this PPE with you and dress accordingly. Delegates using breathing apparatus are required TO BE CLEAN SHAVEN – please advise us immediately of any issues.
- Please be advised due to Covid 19 and in order to keep our delegates and staff as safe as possible we no longer offer any lunch, please therefore ensure that you bring your own.
- Please arrive at 09:00 hrs for registration, with commencement of the course at 09:15 hrs, and an approximate finish time of 16:00 hrs.
- If you are attending a requalification for a City & Guilds re-certification then no training is provided and delegates are only to attend to complete the written and practical examinations.
- If any delegate requires special assistance with any of the learning or examination process please make a aware prior to attendance.
Pre requisites
This is an assessment only booking - no teaching is provided.
The candidate is required to sit the theory exam followed by the practical exam and achieve a pass grade in order to attain the certification.
